In 2018, Apurva Tendulkar, a teacher from Pune, India woke up one morning and observed a loss of vision in her right eye due to a retinal detachment. That day became the beginning of an adventurous journey of numerous doctors, surgeries and specialists.
Apurva Tendulkar’s difficult medical journey learned she has Stickler Syndrome, a hereditary disorder that causes eye abnormalities, loss of listening and knee or joint problems, with signs varying widely amongst patients. For Apurva Tendulkar, Stickler Syndrome has triggered joint pain and complex issues in both eyes. Thanks to surgeons at Pune, her left eye was saved, but her right never regained vision.
In 2018, Apurva’s right eye stabilized enough to have surgical treatment. Apurva says, after surgery, my right eye looked great, but I was not happy however it become simply small.
